Our free-range cockerels (male chicken) aren't just free to roam and have high welfare, they taste like chicken used to! Because we rear a slow growing French breed and grow them for over 100 days we are not pushing the birds to fatten quickly and can allow them to finish naturally out on the pasture topped up with a high percentage cereal diet from a local mill, we also supplement this with oats grown here on the farm.
A one star Great Taste Award winner, here's what the judges had to say "A good looking bird of substantial size. The Meat was moist and flavourful - the breast cut well. The dark meat had a great depth of flavour. Nice example of a free-range chicken."
You haven't tasted real chicken until you've tried our traditional Norfolk free-range cockerel!
What is a Norfolk Bronze cockerel
What is a Norfolk Bronze cockerel
Reared in small groups in mobile sheds, our cockerels get full roam off the hedges and fields during the day.
Free-range cockerels are good, but these are better- large, slow-growing birds have plenty of flavour, with lots of meat to go around. We think they're unlike anything you'll taste anywhere else.
This is how chicken used to taste before intensive farming introduced inferior breeds with no flavour. This is the perfect centrepiece for a special Sunday lunch or Christmas dinner!

As with all our turkeys, our Norfolk Black/Bronze have had a free-range life before being humanely dispatched. We dry-pluck our turkeys by hand and leave them to hang for a truly unique flavour.
